The nine hole Fenwick Golf Course is the second oldest course in Connecticut. Fenwick is a shoreline borough of the town of Old Saybrook.
In early May, I had the honor of photographing the first hole for a long-time member. The first hole has special meaning for him and I was given some guidance as to his favorite views and memories.
I had played the course once before myself, but it was long ago and my memory of the terrain and design had faded. For instance, I had forgotten that on the right side of the first hole, near the green, there is a small shingle clad chapel. Perhaps it’s a good place to stop in and pray for a good round before the first putt.
This is the kind of project I love to do. We all have favorite views of golf courses, vacation spots, or random locations near where we live, or in places where we like to travel. Or hope to live some day. If I can capture that scene artistically, through photography, please let me know. I like talking it through, planning it out, and turning your vision into a framed piece you can keep close.
